This page is a collection of all the products that I use to create my blog. From hosting and domain name to plugins and themes. If you are thinking of starting your own site, you might appreciate this info. This page will evolve continually as I add and change things around.

Getting Started With Your Own (Wicca) Blog

dynadot Dynadot – One of the two things you need first is a domain name. My registrar of choice is Dynadot. At Dynadot you can get a .com domain for under $10 and you don’t have to worry about them adding hidding charges to your order (like Godaddy for example). When choosing a domain name, make it something catchy and interesting (like I did with TheHalloweenWitch.com). You’ll need this to get the second resource on the list: hosting.

hostgator Hostgator – One of the two things you need first is hosting. I’ve been using Hostgator since 2008 when I had my first site on the World Wide Web. If you use the coupon code “halloweenwitch” you’ll get a discount of $9.94 on the package price when signing up. They give you an easy option to set up WordPress so you can use that as the “engine” of your site and create a blog like mine without having to know much (or any) HTML code.

Genesis Theme Framework for WordPress Genesis – The following resources are related to the design of the site: the WordPress theme. I use a themeframe called Genesis which costs around $60. Genesis is from the Studiopress company which has a very good reputation in the WordPress community. Even only buying the themeframe and making use of the available free childthemes (from them or from other designers) will get you a great looking site. They also have paid child themes available if one of those looks good to you.

CoverKicks.com – The header image on my site, as well as the ones on the social media accounts linked to this site (twitter, fanpage, youtube, …) are created by a good friend of mine, San Coils. If you want a great header like mine, that will help brand your site, then I recommend you talk to her and see what she can do for you.

Dreamstime – Looking for affordable stockphotos you can use on your site? Dreamstime has a great collection both paid and free that you can use for your projects. Check out their licenses to see which one you need for your next project.
